The Connecticut Sun have had a mixed stretch over their last few games. They earned an impressive 90–87 victory over the Portland Fire on July 14, showing poise in a close game, but then suffered losses to the Phoenix Mercury and the Indiana Fever, including a difficult 123–88 defeat to Indiana before the All-Star break. Overall, the Sun have shown flashes of improvement and competitiveness, but they will need more consistency on both offense and defense as they look to build momentum for the second half of the season.

The Connecticut Sun put up a strong fight against the Las Vegas Aces last night, but the Aces pulled away late for a 101-94 victory at Mohegan Sun Arena. A’ja Wilson delivered a dominant performance with 45 points for Las Vegas, while Chennedy Carter added 18 points to help the Aces improve to 3-1 on the season. Connecticut showed plenty of heart, rallying in the third quarter behind back-to-back three-pointers from Saniya Rivers to cut the deficit to just two points, but the Aces responded with a big scoring run to seal the win. Rookie guard Hailey Van Lith led the Sun with 17 points, and Aaliyah Edwards made her season debut after returning from injury. Despite the loss, the Sun showed energy and determination against one of the WNBA’s top teams.
